Russell has more than 25 years’ experience in the energy sector spanning commercial, policy and regulatory roles across electricity and gas markets, renewables development and network regulation.
He previously served as Economics Director at the Australian Energy Market Commission, where he helped lead key reforms on gas and electricity networks, wholesale market operation, renewable gas integration and the retail electricity sector.
Russell has undertaken extensive investment and market analysis for major transactions, asset developments and commercial negotiations in wholesale trading and corporate development roles at Origin Energy.
As a Technical Director at Jacobs, he led projects on investment feasibility and policy issues in wholesale electricity markets, network investment planning and economy‑wide decarbonisation.
