Jon Saltmarsh is Chief Technology Officer at Energy Systems Catapult in the UK. The Catapult seeks to accelerate energy innovation and to help businesses capture the opportunities for growth that this presents. Jon is a member of Catapult’s executive team and responsible for identifying the key innovation priorities where the Catapult can deliver most impact. These include transforming homes, sites and local areas; future energy networks; and digitalisation of the energy system. His primary areas of interest are around flexibility, resilience and disruptive innovation.
Jon has spent 35 years driving innovation in central government and the private sector in energy and defence. He has a passion for applying technology and a systems perspective to solve difficult challenges. Before the Catapult, as a senior civil servant in DESNZ, he led the team providing technical, engineering and research-based evidence to support all policy and innovation teams working on the energy transition.
