Dan Gardner

Dan Gardner is a New York Times best-selling author, speaker, consultant, and writer.

His books on psychology and decision-making — published in 27 countries and 22 languages — have been praised by everyone from The Economist to the late Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman. His latest book, How Big Things Get Done, co-written with Oxford University Professor Bent Flyvbjerg, was named one of the best books of 2023 by The Economist and shortlisted for the Financial Times/Schroders Best Business Book of the Year Award.

Prior to becoming an author, Gardner was a newspaper columnist and investigative journalist who won or was nominated for every major award in Canadian newspaper journalism. Gardner’s work also contributed to significant changes in Canadian public policy.

Gardner holds a law degree and a masters in modern history. He is an honorary senior fellow with the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public Policy and International Affairs and has spoken for, and consulted with, organizations worldwide, including Google, Goldman Sachs, Siemens, Zurich Insurance, Khosla Ventures, and a variety of hedge funds and governments. Gardner also writes the Substack newsletter PastPresentFuture, about history, psychology, risk, and decision-making.
