Professor Akshay Vij is a behavioural economist at Adelaide University. His research focuses on understanding how households and organisations respond to technological, economic, and policy change, using advanced behavioural modelling and data analytics. His work spans several applied policy domains, including transport, housing, labour markets, and energy systems.
Vij has published extensively in leading international journals and his research has attracted more than 3,000 citations. He collaborates closely with government and industry partners to develop evidence-based insights that support policy design and infrastructure planning.
He currently leads the behavioural modelling component of the Energy Masters project, a major interdisciplinary initiative examining how households adopt and use emerging energy technologies such as home energy management systems, rooftop solar, batteries, and electric vehicles.
